As you begin the search for a retirement home for yourself or a loved one, it can seem like a very daunting process. Here are a few tips that we’ve gathered that could help you get started.

  1. Determine what is important to you. What are the amenities, care services, accommodation options and activities you are looking for? What community do you want to live in?
  2. Search for retirement homes in your chosen community. Our Home Finder is a good place to start. You can also ask family and friends for recommendations.
  3. Pick a few homes and give them a call. Set up a time to take a tour, sample the food and ask questions. Don’t be afraid to discuss how the home may be able to accommodate any services you anticipate needing down the road. Our checklist is a good resource to bring along; we also recommend bringing a family member or friend.
