ABOUT THE AWARD
The ORCA Innovation Award recognizes an Operator Member that has elevated its organization’s profile through innovative practices. Whether through innovative design, new or enhanced direct care solutions, or technological or digital advancements, or a groundbreaking concept, the community has enhanced residents’ quality of life, increased employee engagement, or improved operational efficiency.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
Nominations for this award should highlight an innovation/initiative implemented within the past two years that has demonstrated excellence in the following areas:
ORIGINALITY AND CREATIVITY
Tell us how the innovation has brought something new to the retirement community that hasn’t been done before or offers a significant improvement over existing solutions.
IMPACT ON EMPLOYEES
Tell us how the innovation has improved the efficiency, well-being, or satisfaction of the retirement community’s employees.
IMPACT ON RESIDENTS
Tell us how the innovation has enhanced the daily lives of residents by addressing key aspects including but not limited to, health, social interaction, independence, safety, and comfort.
IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY
Tell us how the innovation has optimized operational costs and/or operational efficiencies (e.g., energy efficient solutions, digital tools for reducing administrative workload, etc.) or solved complex issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
NOMINEE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Nominee must be an ORCA Operator Member in good standing.
2. Nominations must be received before the published deadline.
3. Nominations must be for a retirement home and not for a corporate office.
NOMINATOR ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Nominations can be submitted by Operators (home or corporate office), Commercial Partners, Community members or other stakeholders who may have directly worked with the nominee on the initiative.

The awards will be presented during the Banquet & Awards Night at ORCA CON on September 10, 2025. Finalists will be contacted before the event.
