ABOUT THE AWARD
The ORCA Community and Social Engagement Award recognizes an Operator Member that has launched impactful initiatives to strengthen connections beyond its walls. This award celebrates involvement in community activities or social causes that enhance the well-being of both the broader community and the retirement home.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
Nominations for this award should demonstrate how the community and social engagement initiative implemented within the last two years has contributed to the following areas:
ORIGINALITY AND CREATIVITY
Tell us how the project or initiative used creativity or brought fresh new ideas to engage with the community. Whether it’s through technology, new forms of communication, new partnerships, or unique events.
IMPACT ON EMPLOYEES
Tell us how the project or initiative has had a positive impact on employees, i.e., enhanced workplace culture, improved well-being, increased skills development,
etc.
IMPACT ON RESIDENTS
Tell us how the project or initiative enhanced resident engagement and fostered social bonds (e.g., introducing intergenerational programs/intercommunity events with local schools or young professionals).
IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY
Tell us how the project or initiative impacted the broader community in addressing social, economic, environmental, or cultural issues. Share any clear results or data showing the effectiveness of your engagement.
REQUIREMENTS:
NOMINEE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Nominee must be an ORCA Operator Member in good standing.
2. Nominations must be received before the published deadline.
3. Nominations must be for a retirement home and not for a corporate office.
NOMINATOR ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Nominations can be submitted by Operator Members (home or corporate office), Commercial Partners, Community members or other stakeholders who may have directly worked with the nominee on the initiative.

The awards will be presented during the Banquet & Awards Night at ORCA CON on September 10, 2025. Finalists will be contacted before the event.
