ORCA Spring Series

ORCA Spring Series
Tuesdays at 2 pm from May 18 to July 6, 2021

Throughout the pandemic, the retirement community sector has worked tirelessly to keep the seniors living in retirement communities safe and protected. As a result of these efforts, more than 94 percent of seniors who call a retirement community home have stayed safe and remained free of COVID-19. Although this fight is not over, it is important to acknowledge all that the sector has overcome and reflect on the challenges of the past 15 months.

With these thoughts in mind, the Association is pleased to announce ORCA’s Spring Series – Growing Forward Together, a set of eight webinars featuring Dr. Susan Wehry, Chief of Geriatrics, University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Director of AgingME, Maine’s Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program.

Building off her session at Together We Care 2021, “From Collective Trauma to Post-Traumatic Growth”, Dr. Wehry will cover topics relating to our pandemic experiences, including trauma, resiliency, mental health, and share lessons and ways to best support our post-traumatic growth. During each webinar, Dr. Wehry will also open the floor up for discussion and Q&A so attendees can share their own experiences.

The ORCA Spring Series is an opportunity for the sector to acknowledge what we have been through this past year together, process our experiences, and refocus our energy moving forward so we can continue to provide the best possible care to seniors.
