Living Royal at Lynwood

At age 93, Lynwood Park Resident Lorna crossed off her bucket list an experience many of us take for granted – a day at the spa.

Lorna was the most recent participant in Lynwood Park Retirement Community’s long-running Living Dreams program. An army-bride, Lorna spent her younger years travelling and taking care of her family and spent little time on herself.

Upon learning about the Living Dreams program, Lorna decided to pamper herself. The staff at Lynwood partnered with The Spa Day Retreat to organize a day of relaxation where Lorna was treated to a luxurious facial, manicure and eyebrow wax.

Rachelle Richard, General Manager of Lynwood Park, is especially proud of the program. “It started quite some time ago with a lobster dinner, and has expanded to much bigger dreams,” said Richard. “Residents choose what they want to do and we make it happen, it’s heart-warming to see residents smile.”

The Living Dreams program was designed to empower seniors to actively chase their dreams despite their age. “Many seniors feel it’s too late to accomplish their dreams”, says Richard. “But it’s not, and we encourage our residents to participate and empower themselves.”

Thanks to local businesses, who donate gifts in-kind, Lynwood Park fulfils at least three dreams per year.
